From December 2016 the only direct flight to Colombo Bandaranaike Airport from Europe will fly from London, Heathrow, in the UK.
In April, flights ceased from Rome, Italy. The flight from Frankfurt, Germany will cease in October and Paris-Colombo will cease in November.
If you’re flying from Europe next year your best bet will be to travel with Emirates, Qatar or Etihad. Also be aware that Jet Airways is in expansion mode and stealing market share left, right and centre. Prices will be good …but it does mean you’ll have to travel through India, which is not always the most pleasant of experiences.
Our vote goes to Qatar – they’re efficient, they’ve got legroom in economy and the food is good. What’s more, in our experience, Etihad seem to have the most challenges with over-bookings in high season.
